The Green Hotelier Award 2015 goes to: Boutiquehotel Stadthalle!
We are excited to announce that we have been nominated as the winner of the Green Hotelier Award 2015. On April 22nd the winners in Europe, Africa and Middle East, Asia/Pacific and America were selected. We were elected as winners in Europe. Green Hotelier based their decision on our effort to be the first zero-energy-balance city hotel in Vienna & the world and the sustainable technology behind this endeavor.
Green Hotelier and its ambitions
Green Hotelier is an initiative of the International Tourism Partnership and publishes articles about green hotels and green tourism from all over the world. Visitors of Green Hotelier can browse through practical hints about green hotels in various destinations. With regards to this year’s Green Hotelier Award 2015, also our green hotel in Vienna is listed on this platform as well.
The Green Hotelier Award 2015
On an annual basis Green Hotelier honors green hotels from all over the world with the Green Hotelier Award in order to promote green hotels, which pay special attention to a sustainable way of conducting business. Green Hotelier differentiates among “Winners”, “Highly Commended” and “Special Mention”. Green Hotelier aims at honoring the green ambitions of numerous hotel owners from all over the world in order to make sure that sustainable technologies will be further promoted within the industry. Many hotels from all over the world – from city hotels to remote nature hotels – applied for the Green Hotelier Award 2015. The team of the Boutiquehotel Stadthalle in the center of Vienna is very proud and happy to have been elected as the winner of the Green Hotelier Award 2015 in Europe. A confirmation for our environmental-friendly path towards an eco-hotel in Vienna
The main reason for the win of the Green Hotelier Award 2015 was according to Green Hotelier our aim to convert our hotel into a zero-energy-balance hotel in Vienna. What does zero-energy-balance mean? It means that the Boutiquehotel Stadthalle produces over the year as much energy as it consumes. This is done through advanced technological facilities, such as solar and photovoltaic panels, ground water heat pumps and three wind turbines. This makes us the first city hotel with a zero-energy-balance worldwide and our guests are regarded as sustainable travelers. We feel proud that the Green Hotelier Award provides a confirmation that we followed the right path towards creating an environmental friendly business and, of course, we also aim to continue this path. That is the reason why we also try to stimulate green thinking among our guests. Each guest who travels in an eco-friendly way to our hotel (e.g. via train, via bike, etc.) receives a 10% discount on his booking total. We hope to welcome you soon in our green hotel in Vienna!
