Sustainable tourism also in Vienna

If you are interested in green tourism, then you should definitely check out the blog subvoyage. Julia Recker is focused on sustainable travel and shares her experiences through wonderful photos and detailed articles. She interviews people who work in ecological tourism and who want to be part of the sustainability movement. She uncovers many fascinating facts about the topic and we read through her blog regularly attentively! In the travel diary you will find interesting posts about Vienna, Barcelona, Brussels, Münster and Hamburg! Further cities will follow shortly. In Vienna, she found not only our great ecological hotel but also many fantastic vegetarian and vegan restaurants and coffee houses, and she discovered that it is not only possible but actually also easy to explore Vienna without using a car. During her stay at the Boutiquehotel Stadthalle she got to know our zero-energy-balance hotel first-hand, and then she burrowed deeper by interviewing our hotel director, Claudia Plot, and found out many facts and figures surrounding the hotel’s green credentials. You can find the whole interview on: http://www.subvoyage.de/interviews/wien/ Here a few fantastic green facts about the green sleeping options at the Boutiquehotel Stadthalle: 130 square meters of solar panels, 90 square meters […]

“It won’t get any greener!”

The Boutiquehotel Stadthalle has long been known for its green attitude towards life and work, but still manages to surprise us over and over with great new ideas. Here is a short summary of green, leafy things that you can find at the hotel: our garden is a green oasis, our facade is green with vertical gardens, our rooftop lavender garden is a green paradise for butterflies and bees alike, and our entrance area’s vertical herb garden greets guests with fresh aromas as they arrive. The greenest way to travel is by bike or train. Both will be rewarded by a 10 % discount called our “green bonus” which is subtracted from the room price. Recycling, Upcycling, LED lamps as well as saying no to mini bars saves a lot of CO2, which makes not only our hotel but the whole wide world greener and greener! On our homepage you will find our Green City Map which provides lots of green tips for the city, as well as our monthly, innovative green tip for a green life style. The best hot drink for this season is obviously a green tea, and for green meetings you should check out our great boardroom! You will find a great […]

Room chooser: Accessible rooms world wide

Room chooser is a fantastic homepage for people who want to travel barrier-free and sleep in accessible rooms. Michael Sicher has created this website to make it easier for people with special needs to explore the world. He himself found it terribly exhausting to call up so many different hotels in order to find a suitable hotel room where you can fit in the lift or the shower with your wheelchair without a problem. The homepage room chooser is a new website which soon hopefully will not have many empty spaces on the world map without an accessible room left. To register your hotel room is fairly simple but it is even easier to explore it as a traveller. On the starting page you can click on “Would like to travel” to check out the different hotels at your destination. All listed rooms meet the minimum requirements: accessible without stairs, inner width of doors at least 80cm, elevator minimum measurements 100x130cm, sink has a ground clearance of at least 70cm, shower has no threshold. In order to choose the right room for you, you can tick different boxes of the list shown to your left. That way you can find […]
