Zero Waste in the Boutiquehotel Stadthalle (2)

by Elena Schöber

After we have already given you a short insight in Bea Johnson’s Life in our Blog article last month, we will provide you with further information about minimalism and zero waste today, as we have promised!

Why Zero Waste?

Environmental pollution, waste of resources, toxic chemicals in our groundwater, decease of water creatures… The list goes on and on and the aim to tackle all these severe problems can seem really intimidating at first. But we have to keep in mind that the actions of every single person can make a difference! We are reaching decisions daily and thereby approve the system as it is right now. Only by changing something, we signalize that we do not want to accept the current circumstances and can force the economy to rethink. However, unlike you might expect, you do not have to make an immense effort for leading a wastefree life.

Where to begin?

Because according to Bea Johnson, zero waste should be one thing before all: simple! Therewith you must not forget that leading a life completely without producing garbage is an idealistic target that should be approached slowly step by step. And to what extent this is possible, everybody has to decide individually, of course. Predominantly, everyone should begin with becoming aware of the effect of his or her consumption and the resulting consequences for nature. Only then, you can act accordingly. Bea names five basic conducts which must be implemented to abandon ones domestic refuse as far as possible, namely: refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and rot. By giving up unnecessary dross, you do not only the environment a favour, but you also spare time and money and even improve your health!

In order that you can also implement this lifestyle comfortably and maybe even have fun by doing so, we will clarify the five basic steps in our following zero waste blog article next month.

You are curious already and cannot wait to learn more about zero waste? Here is the guide from Bea Johnson!
