Even if the weather does not really come into the picture yet, we firmly believe that summer is just around the corner! And together with it the Vienna Pop Festival: From July the 27th 60 acts are going to show their skills within four days on the lake stage in front of the Church of St. Karl and in the adjacent buildings. Last year the Festival for young and local pop music attracted 60.000 visitors and also at the coming event the innovative Austrian musicians and bands will give everything they got. And the best thing about it: the admission is free! As always, the programme will be organised by a professional curator team that is already set for this year:
The Vienna Pop Festival 2017
Ana’s actual name is Kristina Pia Hofner and during the week she teaches and researches as media scholar at the University of Applied Arts. Otherwise, under her pseudonym, Ana Threat makes music herself in the garage scene and she has already released several songs with the postpunk-duos “The Happy Kids” and “Kristy And The Kraks”. Currently she has a try as a solo artist with her latest album “Cold Lve” and moreover she conducts the label “Trash Rock Production”. So she is well versed in the music scene and is certainly going to put together an extraordinary programme for this year’s Vienna Pop Festival!
Also her team partner Eberhart Forcher brings along a lot of music experience as radio DJ for the Austrian hit radio Ö3. In addition to that, as talent scout, he searches and finds so far unknown Austrian pop acts and introduces them on his YouTube channel “Austrozone”. His engagement for the local pop music even got honoured with the bestowal of the “Amadeus Austrian Music Award” in 2014. Furthermore, Eberhart Forcher moderates the broadcasts “Solid Gold” and “Forchers Friday Music Club” and he functions as music scout for song contests at the ORF.
So, both of the curators are ideally suited for bringing the most promising Austrian talents on the lake stage of this year’s Vienna Pop Festival once again. We are already eager to see which acts will be found in their programme!
And those of you who are extra travelling to Vienna to see the Pop Festival should not miss out on spending a night in our small but mighty three-star Boutique Hotel Stadthalle!
