Vienna with children – families are truly welcome here with us!

by Elena Schöber

City trips are ideal to escape one’s everyday life for a few days. Museum visits, shopping trips and in between discovering the local delicacies – a tight schedule! Which is why many leave their children with their grandparents. Museum visits are boring for children anyway and hotel rooms don’t meet the needs of families. Worse, in many hotel children aren’t welcome at all. But is this true? Are city trips just not for families?

How to make a city trip with children a total success

The main rule for a city trip with children is: slow down. With a bit of leisureliness and a good mixture of cultural and fun activities, the holiday will remind in everyone’s mind as a good thing to remember.

Firstly, a suitable place to stay has to be found. It should be a good mixture of the benefits of a hotel with enough space for the children. With us, you will find everything you need. Our family rooms with two separate bedrooms sleeps four. Of course, baby beds can be provided as well. That way you can always be near your children but still have some privacy. Naturally, you’ll have access to all amenities our hotel has to offer. In our family package “Winter Holidays for Families” up to two children until the age of 12 sleep for free. With our delicious ORGANIC breakfast, the whole family starts healthily in the day.

A day packed with sightseeing, shopping and museum visits is certainly too boring and exhausting for children. The mix is what matters! Museums can definitely be interesting for children. Many museums offer guided tours especially for children, some even installed permanent exhibitions suitable for the young ones, e.g. the Children’s Museum at the castle Schönbrunn in Vienna. The exhibition teaches children about the lives of children during the Austrian Empire. Additionally, the museum offers thematic guided tours where the children are told interesting and funny stories about the Austrian Empire. We have put together many more ideas for activities with children in Vienna here. There is something for everybody!

To explore all the beautiful, magnificent squares and buildings in Vienna, you don’t have to walk for miles. The public transportation network is excellent and gets you and your children quickly and safely from one highlight to the next. Or you hop on one of the sightseeing busses or boats and explore the city comfortably from the street or the water. This will spare you whining like “I can’t walk any longer, my feet hurt.”.

So that the holiday will stay in good memory, you should include your children. They will be very proud if they are allowed to take photos or to decide where to go next. And you will be amazed! Through the eyes of your children you’ll explore different and more things and your children can proudly present the photos they’ve taken all by themselves after returning from the holiday. An enrichment for everyone!

City trips with children are therefore definitely impossible. On the contrary, with a family friendly hotel and a schedule that is (also) adjusted to your children’s needs, the holiday will be a success for everyone. We are more than happy to assist you in your planning and will ensure that your stay with us will be as comfortable and stress-free as possible!
