Room chooser: Accessible rooms world wide

by Elena Schöber

Room chooser is a fantastic homepage for people who want to travel barrier-free and sleep in accessible rooms. Michael Sicher has created this website to make it easier for people with special needs to explore the world. He himself found it terribly exhausting to call up so many different hotels in order to find a suitable hotel room where you can fit in the lift or the shower with your wheelchair without a problem.

The homepage room chooser is a new website which soon hopefully will not have many empty spaces on the world map without an accessible room left. To register your hotel room is fairly simple but it is even easier to explore it as a traveller. On the starting page you can click on “Would like to travel” to check out the different hotels at your destination. All listed rooms meet the minimum requirements: accessible without stairs, inner width of doors at least 80cm, elevator minimum measurements 100x130cm, sink has a ground clearance of at least 70cm, shower has no threshold.

In order to choose the right room for you, you can tick different boxes of the list shown to your left. That way you can find the hotel room you need in just a split second.

At the moment there are 7 hotels listed in Austria (6 of them are in Vienna), one is in Dresden and one in Hamburg. Obviously our accessible rooms in the Boutiquehotel Stadthalle are listed too. Check out the travel diaries from Budapest, Dubai, Mallorca and the Waldviertel.

Come and visit the beautiful Vienna completely barrier-free!
