long night of museums
The long night of museums will take place for the 12th time this year on October 1st. Sponsored by the ORF – the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, this event tries to bring culture closer to the people. More than 660 museums and galaries all over Austria will participate in this event and you can visit as many places in one county as you like with only 1 ticket. Museums and galaries are going to be open from 6pm to 1am.
You can visit famous places like Belvedere, Leopold Museum, Sigmund Freud museum or unusual ones like the Vienna Schnapsmuseum, the Backhausen – textile museum or the chocolate museum!
Tickets cost 13€ (11€ concession) and are also valid for all public transport from 4pm to 3am.
You can get your ticket for Vienna, information and booklet at the “meeting point museum” at Heldenplatz on the following days:
Thursday, 29th of September, from 2pm to 6pm
Friday, 30th of September from 10am to 6pm
And Saturday, 1st of October from 9am
During the night there will be 5 bus lines, connecting various museums leaving at an interval of 15minutes.
