Life Ball 2015 – the megaevent in light of AIDS aid
The Life Ball 2015 is coming to town. Viennese people can already feel it. The Life-Ball tram is making its rounds and Conchita Wurst is laughing from various Life Ball Billboards. The Life Ball 2015 is taking place from May 16th for the 23rd time in the Viennese townhall. The ball is organized by Gery Keszler and is one of the biggest AIDS charities worldwide. Its aim is to remove taboos with regards to HIV and AIDS. We have all the details about this year’s life ball.
A happy event with a serious background
The Life Ball is often seen as a very happy and colorful event. Still, the serious background of this event will never be forgotten. During the opening ceremony numerous AIDS activists hold speeches. This makes it clear to everyone that the Life Ball is mostly about the removal of taboos on HIV and AIDS. At the same time, the joy of life should also be celebrated and this endeavor is strengthened by the fact the the Life Ball connects the Viennese Balltradition with emotions, glemma and flamboyance.
AIDS LIFE – die foundation behind the Life Ball
Aids Life was founded in 1992 and only serves non-profit purposes. AIDS LIFE supports non-profit organizations in Austria and beyond, which pursue the goal of helping people who suffer from Aids. AIDS LIFE uses the Life Ball as a medium to put the removal of taboos with regards to aids into a better light with the support of various celebrities and international organizations.
The 23rd Life Ball in Vienna
This year’s Life Ball will strongly be connected to the color “Gold”. The source of inspiration is the Viennese Secessionism and its “flagship artist” Gustav Klimt. Accordingly, Gold will play an important role during the entire event. We are excited to see how various celebrities, such as Charlize Theron, Jean Paul Gaultier or Bill Clinton, will be inspired by this topic.
The Life Ball stage is based on a new concept this year. According to the Viennese secessionism a new version of the Viennese Secession will be presented. This stage will also be used after the Life Ball Event, as it will serve as the stage for the Eurovision Village for the Eurovision Song Contest. According to the ESC slogan “Building Bridges”, a bridge is literally built between these two megaevents in light of tolerance.
