Cleaning Vienna
It is the 7th time that this event is taking place. This year’s spring-cleaning started on April 23rd and will be on until the 8th of May 2012. It is an event of the city government, supported by the local municipal authorities and a lot of private initiatives.
Last year over 300 initiatives, schools, kindergartens, clubs and individuals (in total more than 11,600 citizens) took part and helped to clean our city.
Making people aware of how much waste they produce and how many people do not care to throw them out in proper bins, but rather place them anywhere in the streets. Initiatives are equipped with rubbish bags and gloves by the local authorities and the waste that was collected will be picked up and separated properly.
Vienna will even be cleaned under water. 100 divers will clean the Danube on the 28h of May.
