Viennese markets

by Elena Schöber

In Vienna, there are 26 markets. 21 of them take place daily from Monday to Saturday. The markets are open all year and are always an attraction with great flair and tradition.

The three most famous Viennese markets are:

Naschmarkt, It is the largest market of the city, Karmelitermarkt one of the oldest markets of Vienna and Yppenmarkt-Brunnenmarkt – Vienna’s biggest street market.

We would also like to recommend other interesting markets, which can be reached from our Boutique Hotel Stadthalle within walking distance or by taking the subway line 3:

the organic market on Freyung (1st district) with numerous organic treats, natural cosmetics, handicrafts and ceramics has a long tradition as a marketplace.

Volkertmarket (2nd district) is a kosher jewel. When the sun shines, the market gives the impression of a big garden.

Rochusmarkt (3rd district): is one of the most popular open-air markets in Vienna.

Schwendermarkt (15th district) is a long drawn-out market that was almost forgotten in recent years.

Kutschkermarkt (18th district): you can shop almost like in the country. This market and Yppenmarkt are the last two Viennese street markets.
