Musical Highlights in January (1)

Just in case that you should be in loose ends after all the Christmas- and New Year’s Eve turmoil, or that one of your good New Year’s resolutions should be to show more interest in culture, then you should come to the Stadthalle Vienna in January! For the beginning of next year, much will be offered in musical respect in Austria’s capital and one highlight follows upon the next: “Swan Lake” On Tuesday, the 2nd of January 2018, the Bolshoi Ballet Belarus will present one of the most popular ballet pieces ever. To the music of Tchaikovsky, the romantic fairytale “Swan Lake” which is about the power of real love, is revived by one of the most renowned Russian ballet ensembles. For its positive contribution to the world culture, the Bolshoi Ballet Belarus has even been honoured by UNESCO. Despite perfectly shaped sophistication, the interpretation of “Swan Lake” conveys a natural lightness which enchants the audience. Musical Highlights in November (2)

We already have informed you about a few musical highlights in November in our blog, but of course there is more to it than that! What you can additionally expect from the upcoming month in Vienna, we will reveal here: Beth Hart On wednesday, the 8th of November, you can experience Beth Hart, the American singer and songwriter live in the Stadthalle Vienna. Currently, she probably is on the peak of her creative career and even has been nominated for the Grammy Awards. If one had to describe Beth’s voice, it would probably amount to burnt honey. In 2015, her rather melancholy and bitter-sweet album “Better Than Home” has been released which has been relieved by her energetic newest album “Fire On The Floor”. Beth Hart’s music is rich in variety and covers many genres from gospel via soul through to classical music and rock, of course. The 15th District – The Neukölln of Vienna

Neukölln, a few years ago still the sink estate of Berlin, meanwhile has blossomed out into the newly discovered scene district. The critical reputation which has been sticking to the borough due to poverty and social disadvantages earlier, has given way to a spirit of optimism and a growing cultural importance. Today, especially young people and tourists find some sort of a smooth run-down atmosphere, new music and shops with trendy vintage furniture there. The present Neukölln is exuberant, lively and full of opposites. The 15th district of Vienna has been experiencing a quite similar transformation for some time now: Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, Vienna’s 15th district, has been regarded as the capital’s unbeloved stepchild in former times as it caused many negative headlines. Even so, deprived areas are always attracting artists and students as the rent is still cheap there. Hence, the poorest and youngest district is currently changing and well on the way to become as versatile and innovative as Neuköln. Musical Highlights in November (1)

Even if the temperatures are slowly falling again and one only wants to hide oneself away at home, we will not let the approaching winter get us down! Because in November, some really special musical acts will come to Vienna that you should not miss out on: The Gorillaz On Thursday, the 2nd of November, you will experience a real phenomenon in the Stadthalle Vienna: the Gorillaz! The special thing about the band is that it is fictive and consisting of four comic characters. The Gorillaz were brought into being in 1998 by the British singer Damon Albarn and the illustrator Jamie Hewlett as an answer to the replaceable artists on MTV. The cartoon characters all embody stereotypes which however got equipped with their own biographies and characteristics. There are no real persons behind the fictive band members, but rather a changing group of musicians and producers. After the in 2001 released debut album “Gorillaz” has been sold more than seven million times, the group entered the Guinness Book of Records as the “most successful virtual band”. Staycation – Vacation at Home

The neologism “Staycation” is composed of the words “stay” and “vacation” and therefore stands for a mix of staying at home and having a holiday. This travelling refusal is totally in vogue at the moment! But how can such a vacation at home even look like? Slow movement You are stressed out because of your always the same daily routine and are desperate for a change of scenery, but at the same time you only want to relax and recharge your batteries? Then, Staycation is absolutely the right thing for you! Because even if travelling is an exciting diversion, it nonetheless means stress. First packing, then sitting in traffic, rushing to get the flight and at the travel destination seeing as much as possible - this is how a holiday often looks like. When you arrive back home, you feel anything but recovered and scarcely ready for returning to your everyday working life. Staycation is the knowingly decision against this unrest and for a slow movement and besides even much more sustainable.
