URBAN FUTURE Global Conference

Every two years, they are coming together at the URBAN FUTURE global conference - the City Changers. They are people who want to make their city more sustainable with great enthusiasm and a lot of commitment and who want to actively make a change. The UFGC is the largest convention of this type worldwide with altogether 3000 participants from 44 cities and 200 speakers. And the best thing about it: it will take place here in Vienna next year! From the 28th of February to the 2nd of March in the Exhibition and Congress Centre Vienna, you can connect with people who are realizing ideas for a more sustainable city life with passion and innovation. “Between Beauty and Abyss”

The Vienna Moderne around 1900 without doubt belongs to the most significant periods of art and culture worldwide. And scarcely anybody has influenced this time with their work as much as the artists Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Otto Wagner and Koloman Moser. On occasion of the century of their death, Vienna will celebrate their creative oeuvre next year which still can be seen in the metropolis today. According to the motto “Beauty and Abyss”, the area of tension between aesthetics and the horrors of the World War I which marked the turn of the century, shall be dealt with: Klimt and Schiele Gustav Klimt can be named the leader of a creative avant garde. In the gallery Belvedere, his paintings will be exhibited next to the works of other popular artists like Van Gogh or Monet who have demonstrably influenced him. Moreover, Klimt was a promoter of Egon Schiele, whose expressionist masterpieces can also be gazed in the Belvedere. His oil paintings will be set in a context by sketches, archive materials, related works and photographs so that the beholders can experience the time around 1900 at first hand. Summer in the Viennese Museum’s quarter

Until the end of September, the outdoor season of the Viennese museum’s quarter, one of the greates culture areas in the world, will still take place. And also this year, the unique mix of museums, trendy restaurants and cafés and smaller culture initiatives turns the summer into a great adventure! We will inform you about what is offered: Summer of Movement This year’s motto reads “summer of movement” which is realized in the most diverse ways. For example, there is a boule area as well as manifold workshops that all have their focus on body toning, dancing and other sports. The highlight of 2017 probably is the playable sculpture park MQ Amore. Here, artists have created 12 sculptures which function as mini golf courses at the same time and therefore make art directly experienceable in an extraordinary manner. After we have provided the best hiking tips for the nature lovers in our last late summer article, we want to address the music fans today. Because musically, the september in Vienna has a lot to offer: Season opening of the Vienna State Opera For example, the Vienna State Opera reopens its gates again after two months of summer break.
