Summer Night Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra 2017

After we have informed you about cultural events like the Film- or the Pop Festival in recent weeks, we did not want to withhold this very special gem from you: next Thursday, on May the 25th, the annual mega event will take place! From 20:30 o’ clock, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to the Summer Night Concert in the castle garden of Schönbrunn Palace under the open sky! In other words: the admission is free, in order that everybody can enjoy the stunning music! We reveal all the important details: What is offered? Aside from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, also internationally known stars like conductor Christoph Eschenbach and soprano singer Renée Fleming are represented to guarantee entertainment at the highest stage! Film Festival at the Townhall Square 2017

The 27th Film Festival is just around the corner! On overall 66 days from June, the 30th to September, the 3rd, numerous concert recordings and live acts will enchant you at the Townhall Square under the open sky. Europe’s biggest culture- and cuisine festival has attracted 550.000 visitors from all over the world last year and the best thing about it: The entrance is totally free once again! We will give you a short insight in what will possibly be offered this year! Brilliant Technology Every day at nightfall, among many others, recordings from operas, concerts and ballet performances of popular artists will be presented on an impressive 300 square metres large screen in full HD with a brilliant sound system under the stars. The classical genre is represented by top-class stars like Anna Netrebko, Plácido Domingo or Elīna Garanča, but also manifold conductors and orchestras will be shown in the open air cinema. Africa Days in Vienna 2017

For the 13th year in a row, this year the Africa Days (Afrika Tage) take place from 18th August until 13th September in Vienna. 18 days non-stop this extraordinary African celebration with a lot of esprit, music, dance, international artists and a colourful bazar will light up Vienna’s Donauinsel (island in the river Donau). The festival offers a wide variety of concerts, speeches, readings and information desks and charity events. Of course, there is a special program for children, too. History of the Africa Days The Africa Days’ initiator and organiser is Medhat Abdelati who started the festival in 2004. According to him, he had the wish for a long time to bring some of his heritage to his new home country. The first festival took place in Munich according to the motto “Out of Afrika – mitten in München” (Out of Africa – into Munich’s inner-city). In Vienna the festival started in 2005. The Africa Days are organised without any public funds or sponsoring. The officials want to stay independent.
