What would be the summer in Vienna without the MQ and the Danube Canal?
Numerous events will take place in the Museumsquartier all summer long. The courtyard of the MQ has been transformed into trendy hot spot: DJs, performances and street theater, boule area, weekend sounds and stylish outdoor furniture, the enzi’s, transform the area into a holiday paradise.
Not only invites the Museums Quartier to enjoy the summer outdoors, but also many trendy restaurants and bars offer the perfect ambience to chill along the Danube Canal, from the Urania to the Summerstage: enjoy cool cocktails, music and sandy beaches in the middle of Vienna!

Sand in the city

Beach feeling in the midst of Vienna! Sand in the city is one of the places to be in summer in Vienna. The location, which serves as an ice-skating rink during winter, is turned into a large beach as soon as the first rays of warm sunlight start showing in spring. There are several food stands offering food from all over the world, cocktails are ice-cold and yummy, chairs and sunbeds are inviting and there are even two beach volleyball courts. This year they also built a children’s playground to entertain even the youngest of visitors.

Sand in the city also organizes events. There is a lesson of Zumba every Thursday from 7 to 8 pm or a “cover me in sand”competition.

Admission is free of charge. Sand in the city is open daily from 2pm to midnight. You can reach it by tube U4 Stadtpark, exit Johannesgasse.
