In the cozy evening hours you can watch lovely classics or new blockbuster movies in the open-air cinemas, such as the “cinema under the stars“ at Karlsplatz or the highest open-air cinema of the city, at the roof of the Main library or many others.
So instead of spending the day in front of the television, it is worth to visit the different outdoor cinemas. Every cinema has its own individual atmosphere. The entry is up to 7€ but some cinemas are for free.
To end the evening even more pleasantly, you can enjoy a cold beer or a lavenderspritzer in our garden at Boutiquehotel Stadthalle.
Here you find the program and the address of the outdoor cinemas.
Summer in Vienna is just as exciting as going on holidays. There are numerous events taking place that can make every summer day a very special one. Vienna’s open air cinemas are part of them. There are lots of locations that show films outdoors, choose whether you prefer to sit on the roof of the main library, in front of Rathaus or close to the Danube. Here is a list of Vienna’s open air cinemas and links to the films they show (many of them are shown in the original version with subtitles=OmU). Enjoy your warm days outdoors!!
One of the best places to be in Vienna during summer is the film festival at Rathausplatz. Starting on July 2nd it will attract thousands of people over the following weeks, providing an “outdoor cinema” free of charge(!) with classical dance-and music films as well as operas on a large video wall just in front of the beautiful scenery of Rathaus. Several films are shown every evening, starting as soon as it gets dark enough and only if it does not rain.
