On the 7th of June 2012 the open air Summer Night Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra takes place at the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace. The concert is at free admission and you can enjoy a fabulous event at a beautiful and unique ambience. This year it will be conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, the principal conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Goteburg Symphony Orchestra and the Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra wants to show the beauty of classical music to everybody.
Our tip: come early to get a seat, or bring blankets to sit on the ground!

Christmas in Vienna

DezChristmas in Vienna is one of the most well known Christmas concerts in Vienna. 150 musicians of the St.Florian Boys’ Choir, the Vienna Sing-academy and the orchestra make this evening a very special one. Traditional Christmas songs such as “Silent night” are played, but also international traditional, as well as modern Christmas songs are presented by international soloists such as Ramòn Vargas, Liliana Nikiteanu. This year the music presented will have Austrian, Italian, French, Spanish, Romanian, British, American, Mexican and also Japanese background.
Harlem Christmas Gospels
5. DezThe Harlem Reach Ensemble has got 60 members. Most singers come from Harlem and Brooklyn many of them work on Broadway. Each year before Christmas they tour around Europe with 6 of their members, heading Alvin Freeland and each year they stop in Vienna several times for their beautiful concerts.
Gospels, Spirituals, Traditionals as well as international Christmas songs are presented. Their rhythms and voices are thrilling and entertain people of all ages, cultures and religions.
Concerts take place in Minoritenkirche on the following dates: December 03rd, 07th, 08th, 09th, 10th, 15th, 16th, 18th starting at 7pm.

Donauinselfest- Europe’s largest open air festival
23. JunThe Donauinselfest – Danube Island Festival- is the largest open air festival in Europe. It provides 7 areas with different styles of music. The so-called “islands” host: alternative, Indie, Hip Hop (FM4), Rock (ATV), Electro (PULS 4), Culture, Cabarett and international music (Ö1), German speaking folk music (Wr. Städtische), country and western (Donau Versicherung); and of course pop music (Ö3). The 28th Danube Island Festival will take place from Friday, 24th of June to Sunday 26th of June.
Vienna Stadtfest
26. MaiThe city festival Vienna will take place for the 28th time this weekend. From May 27th to May 29th there will be all sorts of events, programmes and shows all over town. “Experience the city” is this year’s theme.
Pop-festival Vienna
2. MaiFrom the 5th of May to the 8th of May 2011 the Pop-festival Vienna will take place in front of the Church of St. Charles (Karlskirche). 41 young and individual musicians will show their music projects. For this year’s opening they have invited a special guest: Skero. He is famous in Austria for his song “Kabinenparty”. This year he will perform with a big band of 15 people and he’ll present a new musician from the Austrian pop-scene, Lylit.
Nouvelle Vague @ Boutiquehotel Stadthalle
8. AprNouvelle Vague, the well-known French band, stayed at Boutiquehotel Stadthalle last week. The band is currently touring through Europe and stayed with us during their 2-day-break. Their next stops include: France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Belgium and Germany.
