Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a worldwide event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and held towards the end of March annually, encouraging people to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change.
Also this year the world’s best-known landmarks remain unlighted to help symbolically the environment between 08.30 p.m. and 09.30 p.m.

WWF calls on all Austrians not only to turn off the lights for an hour but also to set a personal sign for the environment: for example, switching to LED lamps bulbs, eating less meat, buying more organic products or turning your thermostat down at least 2-4 degrees.

Boutique Hotel Stadthalle is going to be part of Earth Hour 2013. We will switch off the lights in our hotel lobby from 8.30pm to 9.30pm this Saturday.

Why don’t you join in as well? Turn off the lights and enjoy the candle-light atmosphere for one hour LED candles are available at the reception.

Depeche Mode in Vienna

The superstars of electro are back and present their “Tour of the Universe”!
On the 24^th of March Depeche Mode will perform their new songs from the album “Delta Machine” live for the first time.

Electronic Beats Telekom, the international music program of the German Telekom, hosts the event that will take place in Vienna’s Museumsquartier!  Tickets for the concert are not on sale: if you want to get hold of tickets, you need to participate in the competition of T-Mobile Austria!
The live performance can be found on the Electronic Beats website a little later.
On the 23^rd of March Depeche Mode will also be guests in the German entertainment show “Wetten, dass …?”  (“Wanna bet…?) by Markus Lanz in the Wiener Stadthalle!

10 years of Albertina

In March 2013 the Albertina Museum in Vienna celebrates the 10th anniversary of its reopening. The Albertina was opened again in 2003 after several years of closure with a brilliant new look!

Since then, the museum has become one of the most important museums of Vienna. The anniversary will be celebrated with special exhibitions and parties.

The celebrations will take place from the 11^th to the 17^th of March 2013 with a comprehensive program:

Don´t miss the major “10 years of the Albertina” party on the 15^th of March from 8.00 pm to midnight with DJs. All visitors will have free admission to all exhibitions.

On the 16^th of March visitors can try out the art program of the Albertina for free, too. The 17^th of March is an “Open House Day” with free admission as well.

From Boutique Hotel Stadthalle you can reach the Albertina with the U3 or the trams 49 and 1, 2 & D.

Tricky Women Festival 2013

Tricky Women is the first and only festival of animated film that is dedicated exclusively to animation by women.
The Tricky Women Festival takes place in Vienna from the 6th to the 10th of March this year and celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Different works on topics such as “desire and reality in women’s work” or “self-perception and the perception of the mother’s role” and much more are shown during the festival. Around the “International Women’s Day” on the 8th of March, Vienna is showing its female side in the cinema with about 138 films.
