Vienna’s Rathausplatz will change its face once again this year and become stage to the famous circus Roncalli. Celebrating its 35th birthday next year the circus will stay in Vienna from September 13th to the 20th of October and will host an extraordinary show to pay tribute to its anniversary. There will be exciting artistry and breathtaking acrobatics with artists from Brasil to Russia and from Spain to England.
All staff members of Boutiquehotel Stadthalle joined a training to learn how to extinguish a fire and how to evacuate the hotel in case of danger. This training, done on a regular basis, is compulsory by law and was held by Mr. Michael Schachel an expert for fire protection and fire control. The 4 hour course was interesting and full of action. Different types of fires were discussed and the different types of fire extinguishers were shown. The funniest part was when every one of us tried out the different fire extinguishers. The handling is very simple. The test alarm and evacuation also worked well and arriving guests were happy to be greeted by 30 staff members upon their arrival:-)
Here are some photos to get an impression of our experiences!

Waldviertel is a region in lower Austria, close to Vienna. Every year a large celebration takes place on Heldenplatz in Vienna, to celebrate this region. 90 exhibitors from the various areas in Waldviertel get together to present and celebrate Waldviertel’s culinary, traditional and regional specialities. Different types of beer, wines and schnaps, local food specialities, lots of information about the regions and about interesting tourist destinations –day trips, as well as holidays- are presented there. But there will also be a lot of action present. Children can try to milk cows, different handcrafts are shown such as basket making, there will be a fashion show of Austrian traditional “Trachten” dress and of course many music acts during these 3 days.
Visit Waldviertel pur from August 29th to August 31st at Heldenplatz, just opposite of Rathausplatz and its film festival, and enjoy some delightful local snacks or buy an Austrian Dirndl!?:-)

Beach feeling in the midst of Vienna! Sand in the city is one of the places to be in summer in Vienna. The location, which serves as an ice-skating rink during winter, is turned into a large beach as soon as the first rays of warm sunlight start showing in spring. There are several food stands offering food from all over the world, cocktails are ice-cold and yummy, chairs and sunbeds are inviting and there are even two beach volleyball courts. This year they also built a children’s playground to entertain even the youngest of visitors.
Admission is free of charge. Sand in the city is open daily from 2pm to midnight. You can reach it by tube U4 Stadtpark, exit Johannesgasse.
