Klimt: up close and personal28. Feb
2012 is dedicated to Klimt due to his 150th birthday celebration. On the 24th of February a new exhibition “Klimt: up close and personal” started at Leopold Museum. The collection reveals images, letters and insights around Klimt. It will show masterpieces owned by Leopold Museum, but also national and international loans.
Original quotes by Klimt can be found next to his paintings, functioning as comments by Klimt about his own paintings. Various portraits show the artist himself and his many facets.
The exhibition also presents more than 400 postcards that Klimt sent his partner Emilie Flöge as well as various paintings from his private collection. Even Klimt’s studio, which served as his special retreat, was reconstructed.
The exhibition can be visited until the 27th of August 2012.
