The Donauinsel fest is an annual open-air free music festival happening on Vienna’s Donauinsel. (Danube Island) The largest and most popular open air festival in Austria.
Vienna Festwochen

On May 11th 2012 the opening of the Vienna Festwochen will take place in front of the illuminated town hall. The opening ceremony will be the final competition of the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition – an international very important contest in classical music. An international jury will decide on who will be the best young musician of the year 2012.
But don’t worry. In case you are already busy that day, the Vienna Festwochen will take place until the 17th of June. Here you can find all the dates and events planned. Enjoy the diversified culture and music programme!
29th Vienna City Marathon
16. MrzThe 29th Vienna City Marathon will take place on the 15th of April 2012. The whole city will be moving. The marathon is THE sports event in Vienna and enjoys numerous visitors each year. Come and experience Vienna while doing some good to your body.

Vienna’s ball season 2012
9. JanVienna is not only known for its coffee culture, Sachertorte and the Lippizzaner, but it is also popular for the many glamorous balls.
More than 300 take place each year from November to March when the city of waltz enjoys long nights in luxurious surroundings. The highlights of the ball season take place in January and February offering programmes for the young and the older generations.
STOMP – a show of rhythm

STOMP is a show of 8 individual strong personalities whose main common interest is rhythm. Their tightly choreographed shows are stunning and the rhythm that is created with items that can be found on the street, in a building, on a construction site such as garbage bins combined with creative and active moves.
Cocktail City Tour
21. NovOn the 24th of November 2011 a cocktail tour around the city will take place in Vienna. Starting at 7pm you can visit several bars in the 4th, 5th and 6th district and consume one free cocktail in each of them, all with only one ticket. The cocktails are high quality drinks; most bars also offer non-alcoholic cocktails.
The “Wiener Wiesn”

Lebkuchen hearts, steins of beer, Austrian traditional clothes Dirndl and Lederhosen, folk and pop music is what you will get, but also the little something Viennese that comes with it: exquisite Viennese cuisine and of course Viennese wines!!!
Twin City Liner
22. AugThe Twin City Liner is a fast ferry that travels between Vienna and Bratislava. This highspeed boat travels at a speed of 60km/h on the Danube and makes it possible for you to reach Bratislava in no time.
Board the ferry in the city of Vienna (Schwedenplatz) and 75 minutes late your will arrive in the city centre of Bratislava. This way you can visit two cities in one day, ideal for tourists with little time and a whole lot of Europe to see:-). Vienna and Bratislava are Europe’s two capital cities, which are located closest to each other at a short distance of only 60km.
The ferry leaves Vienna 5 times a day. Prices vary, according to day and time. Please find the schedule online!
To reach Boutiquehotel Stadthalle from Schwedenplatz take the underground U1 to Stephansplatz and change there to U3. Get off at Westbahnhof.
Sand in the city

Beach feeling in the midst of Vienna! Sand in the city is one of the places to be in summer in Vienna. The location, which serves as an ice-skating rink during winter, is turned into a large beach as soon as the first rays of warm sunlight start showing in spring. There are several food stands offering food from all over the world, cocktails are ice-cold and yummy, chairs and sunbeds are inviting and there are even two beach volleyball courts. This year they also built a children’s playground to entertain even the youngest of visitors.
Sand in the city also organizes events. There is a lesson of Zumba every Thursday from 7 to 8 pm or a “cover me in sand”competition.
Admission is free of charge. Sand in the city is open daily from 2pm to midnight. You can reach it by tube U4 Stadtpark, exit Johannesgasse.
