Wiener Tafel

“Wiener Tafel” is an independent Austrian charity organization that collects excess food and hygiene items from trade and industry and takes them where they are needed.
The “Tafel” supports socially disadvantaged people in hostels for the homeless, houses of refuge or mother-child homes. It finances itself by private donations and sponsorship.

The “Wiener Tafel “distributes sustainably and we, Boutiquehotel Stadthalle, support them with pleasure.

With our hotel tours, we collect voluntary donations which then are passed on to the “Wiener Tafel”.

Rathaus- and Schönbrunn- Christmas tree

Christmas is over, the New Year has only just started and the question is what will happen to the old Christmas trees?

Not only are Christmas trees removed from Vienna’s households, but also the Christmas trees of Rathaus and Schönbrunn were taken down.

The foresters of the city of Vienna again make something useful out of the wood: The Rathaus-Christmas tree is processed to insect hotels. About 10 bees’ hotels will be placed in the Vienna wood, in Lobau and in Lainzer zoo! Above all wild bees, ladybirds and several wasps should find the optimal habitat there!

The Schönbrunn Christmas tree was fed to the elephants, giraffes and rhinoceroses of Schönbrunn zoo last monday. The Christmas tree certainly is a welcome green snack for the animals!

New Year´s Eve 2012

If you still have no plans for New Year’s Eve 2012, you can enjoy the Silvesterpfad in the old town of Vienna and in the Prater. The SILVESTERPFAD Vienna invites to celebrate an open-air spectacle in the city from 2 p.m. until 2 a.m.

300 artists provide for great entertainment. This connects the major places: Rathausplatz – Freyung – Am Hof – Stephansplatz – Hoher Markt – Neuer Markt – Kärntnerstraße.

More than 100 local restaurateurs will serve punch, mulled wine, tea, beer and champagne and culinary delights on Silvesterpfad. Many large and small stages ensure shows, folk music, waltz music, operetta and pop & rock for good entertainment!

From Boutique Hotel Stadthalle you can reach the most important places by underground U3 and by tram 49. The underground lines and the tram lines will operate through the night.
